Ice Skating and Ice Hockey
Skating in Huntsville Town
Each year at Huntsville Park they turn on the hose and make a great small town ice skating rink. Don't expect perfect ice but expect lots of community fun. If you don't have your own skates just cross the street to Detours and rent them for around $2. They are only open during regular their regular hours. On weekends some of the "local boys" come out with their hockey sticks. It is pretty fun to watch and they are really nice about including the smaller boys.
Skating on the lakes
If you want a little more excitement and fewer people, you can take your skates out on the lake. There are two reservoirs to chose from, Pineview or Causey. You know the ice is ready when you see little ice fishing huts. Sometimes people clear a section of ice on the east or north sides of Pineview for skating and hockey. I like skating when there is about 1-2 inches of powder on the ice.
