Causey Reservoir trails (mainly hiking and horse trails)

 Wheatgrass Canyon

Picture
Wheatgrass Canyon Trail
Rating: Moderate
Distance: 3 miles one way

We highly recommend water/hiking shoes for this one.  You will cross the river several times.
Just head up Highway 39 to Causey Reservoir.  Before going over the spillway take the road to your left.  This road eventually leads you to the Boy Scout Camp Keisel (north arm of Causey Reservoir).  There is parking at the trailhead before you reach Camp Keisel.  Park, cross the bridge and take the trail to the left.  The rock formations on this trail are amazing.  Make sure you take the time to look behind you and see them.  See our blog for more.

Skull Crack Trail

Rating: Moderate
Distance: 2.4 one way
To find this trailhead cross over the spillway (right branch of the road), and follow south until the road ends at a gated community and public parking.  The trailhead is to the north on the east side of the Reservoir.  This trail takes you around the south side of the lake and is quiet as well as beautiful.
See our blog for more.
And another post here.

One of several river crossings. For your convenience, we recommend water sandals/shoes on Wheatgrass trail

Skin Toe Trail

Rating: Easy
Distance: 1 mile
Same trailhead as the Wheatgrass trail but after crossing the bridge head right.  This is just a nice easy stroll above the shore of the reservoir.  It ends at the dam's spillway.  See our blog for more.

Baldy Ridge Trail

Rating: Difficult
Distance: 7 miles one way (and who only goes one way?)
About 1/2 mile into SkinToe hike there is a trail to the left.  It follows what is left of an old road then heads up the ridgeline.  There are several switchbacks that make the climb long and hard but the view at the top is amazing.  If you would like you can continue on to Kiesel Peak and then along the ridgeline to the gate of Deseret Ranch.
