| Maples Trail |
Time to get out and enjoy the trails. The trails yesterday were definitely dry and ready to ride. Debbie, Maddie, and I set out at about 10:00 and rode from Diamond Peak Mountain Sports to North Arm trail then headed up Wheeler Creek. About half way up on the right there is a turn off to Ice Box canyon. This option is pretty steep and technical. Debbie headed up Ice Box and Maddie, and I continued up Wheeler. Near the top the trail offers another option to the right, Maples Trail. This trail eventually links up with Ice Box (it will be your first option to the right). Maples climb is more gradual and less technical. At the fork we went left (not right down Ice Box) to continue up Maples. The next fork gives you the option of heading to Old Snowbasin road (left) where you can cross the road and head up Middle Fork, or take the trail to the right to finish the Maples climb. We went right. This section of trail is my favorite part of the ride. The trail climbs gently, is smooth and rolls through the trees. When it opens up again there is another option to the right (Sardine Trail) which climbs in the trees for a few more miles and then heads down in the open. It eventually loops around and puts you back on Maples. The downhill is amazing.
There were plenty of people out enjoying the trails yesterday and with the rain today the trails should be perfect next week!
