We arrived at the Club Rec on-site snowmobiling headquarters in only 20 minutes just in time to piggy back a tour with a family from New Zealand. They were having a great trip in the Valley and were making plans to move here. So that narrows it down a bit in my mind. You can either live in New Zealand, or Ogden Valley....that's as good as it gets.
Our guide, Levi led us through the basics and assured me that despite being my first time on one of these machines, even I could get the hang of it.
One of our first stops was at a hill where we watched Levi open it up, catching big air at the top. I wished I'd had the guts to do it, it really looked fun. Then we played around in an opening with a little untracked snow. This snow had fallen over a week ago, so it was set up, but an experienced rider could still carve through....I immediately got stuck. Maneuvering these machines is a core, arm and shoulder workout if I ever had one.
My favorite part was cruising down a narrow, tree-lined road (absolutely beautiful), to another opening where there was plenty of room for wide turns for us novices. We made several passes through a bump section to catch some air and feel the power of the machines.
Club Rec does a great job with their facility. If you forget anything, they have it in their shop. The machines ran great and my fear of being cold dissolved when I found their snowmobiles have features to keep your hands and feet warm. We can't wait to have them take us in the new powder (whenever it comes), and learn more about snowmobiling.
